CURLYTREATS Festival

Join CURLYTREATS Saturday 15th October 2022 at Novotel London West, W6 8DR for a Black History Month Festival!

The purpose of this event is to empower, embrace and elevate Black culture in the UK. This upcoming festival is a celebration of Black hair. On the day, you’ll be educated through the history and heritage through hair care seminars, hairstyling classes, educational workshops, engaging conversations, film screenings and more!

The theme is of this event is Black Hair Stories. From the Windrush Era to today, they will explore the history and beauty of afro hair and Black cultural hairstyles from the Motherland. Ridiculing the identity of Black people, including afro hair and cultural hairstyles – negatively impacts the experiences of Black people in society. It happens so often that the term ‘hair discrimination’ was coined to explain such experiences.

Nevertheless, we celebrate the beauty and uniqueness of afro-textured hair as an alternative form of resistance.
