Aside from death and taxes, the one thing that is guaranteed to happen and likely to blindside you when it does, is the arrival of grey pubic hair. If it has not creeped up on you already, it probably has not even occurred to you that this is yet another rite of passage in the ageing game.
Some women opt for shaving their pubic region as a solution, whilst most would deem it as extreme, particularly for those who suffer with shaving bumps. Whatever your pubic hair style, whether you prefer au natural or a landing strip, unless you want to opt for a clean shave to hide those pesky white whiskers, the only option is to dye your grey public hair.
Dyeing your grey pubic hair is an easy solution but it is important that you take extreme care to prevent damage or irritability to the sensitive area.
Purchase a standard hair dye colouring kit that best matches your pubic hair colour. Since it can be coarser and slightly darker than your head hair, go for one shade darker than than that of your head of hair. Test the hair colouring on a small patch of skin on your pubic area. If there are any signs of redness, itching, soreness, or other adverse effects arise, stop and seek medical advice. Stating the obvious, read the instructions carefully. Once you are satisfied that you understand them fully, continue onto the next step.
Apply a small amount of petroleum jelly on the sensitive areas of your genitals to prevent irritation if any of the dye spills onto your skin.
Put on the gloves that are provided with the hair dye kit and mix the colour as instructed. Add a small amount of moisturising shampoo to the mixture ensuring that they are thoroughly mixed together.
Gently brush the mixture onto your pubic hairs, concentrating on the areas that need most attention.
Leave the applied mixture on the hair as directed in the instructions, usually 10 minutes to 30 minutes, then rinse out thoroughly.
Tip: Do not worry if you did not achieve the colour you wanted on the first attempt. Wait a few days to avoid irritation and just re-apply as laid out above. Eventually you will build to the colour you desired.
