Fake lashes can add length and volume to your natural lashes. If you want to change your look – whether subtly or dramatically, this is the perfect way to do it. Learn how to apply false eyelashes like a pro with these easy five steps.
1. Prep Your Natural Lashes
Once you have applied you eyeshadow, apply mascara and liquid eyeliner if you so wish. Apply mascara to both your upper and lower eyelashes. If you like to wear a thin line of liquid eyeliner, apply a slightly thicker line to cover any gaps between the false eyelash and your natural eye line.
Some people prefer to add mascara to their falsies after they are in place. Certainly, there is no hard and fast rule as to whether or not you should apply mascara before or after.
We recommend that you do so prior to to make your false lashes last longer. This will also have the added benefit of giving them something to adhere to and further, it will create a more natural look.
2. Remove False Eyelashes From Tray
Using your fingertips or tweezers, gently remove the eyelash strips from the plastic tray pulling from the band and not the hairs. Lift from the outer corners working your way slowly along the length of the band.
3. Measure & Trim False Eyelashes
Chances are that your false eyelashes are going to be too long. Measure the false eyelash against your natural lash line by aligning it against your eye to see whether it is too long.
Take note of how how much of the strip hangs over the edge of your eye. Remove the falsie away from your eye.
Use a pair of cosmetic scissors to cut off the extra length of the lash strip, from the outermost end. This is particularly important for tapered lashes that have the longest lashes hairs at this point.
If the length of the hairs are too long, trim them to the desired length. Do not cut in a blunt straight line. Slightly taper them for a natural look.
The lashes should be shorter in the innermost edge of your eyes, longer in the centre and longest on the outside corner of your eyes. Repeat for the second false eyelash.
4. Apply Glue & Apply False Eyelashes
Apply a thin layer of eyelash glue across the band of the false eyelash. Allow the glue to dry for about 30 seconds until it is tacky.
To apply false eyelashes, using tweezers, or your fingertips if you prefer, place the band at the centre-point of your lash line.
Once you are happy with its placement, start pressing down the false eyelash working outwards.
Press strips against your natural eyelash line for approximately 10 seconds until they feel secure.
5. Touch Up & Press Lashes Together
Once the glue has dried, you may wish to touch up with liquid eyeliner to mask any gaps.
Squeeze false and natural lashes together to fuse them together. You now know how to apply false eyelashes – just like a pro!
