Between Weaves? How To Buy The Right Hat Size
Hats are more than a fashion accessory; they can hide your shame on a bad hair day, during a break from wearing your hair extensions or that mad dash to your hairdressers in the hope of no one seeing you in your natural glory. Today, there is no need to pull on an old baseball cap and hope you will fade into the background.
Every modern girl would be wise to invest in at least one stylish hat. First off, you should know how to buy the right hat size. Every occasion – big or small – calls for making a statement. The market is filled with various designs and in different styles and colours to choose from. The question is, how to buy the right hat size?
Almost everyone owns at least one hat or has worn one. Hats are becoming increasingly popular not only because it protects the head but also because it is a fashion statement in itself.
Wearing the right hat can definitely compliment an outfit. On a practical level, a hat can shield your face from the sun, protects your head from the heat and warms it when it is cold.
When buying headwear, trying them on is the best method to buy the right hat size but if you are shopping online, you may have to measure your head before ordering if you do not already own hats to refer to.
With a cloth tape measure, wrap it across the mid-forehead, around your head, about an inch above your ears, keeping it as even as possible. Ensure that the tape is not twisted. Hold the tape firmly, but not too tightly. You need to measure your head exactly where the hat will sit. If your measurement falls between sizes, choose the next largest size.
Check your measurement against a hat size conversion chart. It is important that you look for a detailed sizing chart when ordering online (see below).
The company should provide measurement instructions and/or customer assistance to ensure that your hat fits properly.
Check the sizing information tab on individual products since different brands use different sizing.
Further, brands from different countries use different sizing. The guides are a great starting point, but each product should have sizing information specific to that hat. Finally, remember, that the materials used and the construction of the hat may make different size hats fit differently.
Small is usually 55cm, medium is usually 57cm, large is usually 59cm, X-Large is usually 61cm and 2X-Large is usually 63cm. Remember to account for your hair extensions or wig when determining the right hat size.
