There’s More Than One Way To Wear Denim: 2018 Street Style Gallery
Denim can be as plain or as dynamic as you want it to be. Once upon a time, it was enough to find a good pair of jeans with the perfect fit. Match it with a tee shirt or dress shirt, jacket and the right pair of shoes and job done. Well, no more. The contemporary approach is no longer limited to the classic look, it is considerably more modern and individual. Traditional pieces are no longer worn as expected but invigorated in ways to make garments more striking. Even double denim has made a comeback.
Otherwise known as the Canadian Tuxedo, wearing denim with denim is no longer considered to be a fashion faux-pas. Not the easiest look to pull off, it takes a bit of mastering. The trick is to mix up the colours – wear a blue jacket with a black pair of trousers or skirt. If you prefer to wear similar-toned denim, make it consistent – faded with faded, washed with washed – but do not completely match the two items of clothing. Deconstructed denim is still going strong – exposed seams, raw edges, displacement of pockets and treatment to make it look distressed. Avoid looking sloppy and grungy by pairing with dress shoes and accessories.
